NPPF 2023: Four manuals become three, and new exam dates
It’s all changed for the NPPF promotion exams in 2023. The Blackstones’ Police Manuals have now been condensed into three volumes, seeing the end of the Road Policing Manual as we knew it. Don’t panic (or rejoice) just yet, as some of the content has been moved into General Police Duties. You’ll find the following subject areas at the end of the GPD manual:
- Road Policing Definitions and Principles
- Key Police Powers Relating to Road Policing
- Offences Involving Standard of Driving
- Drink, Drugs and Driving
The changes mean you’ll want to use the most recent study materials for your future exams, to ensure they cover only the content you need to know. It’s recommended that you get a copy of the 2023 police manuals rather than use a colleagues from the 2022 exam year.
As always, Police Inspire take care of the changes. Our Questions & Answers are now aligned to the new syllabus.
New exam dates
The 2023 exam year also sees the introduction of more exam dates for both Sergeants and Inspectors candidates. This addresses some long-running frustrations that candidates were forced to sit their police exams at a particular time of year, which may have been inconvenient for them and their circumstances.
This coming year, you’ll be able to sit your exam as follows:
Sergeants
Tuesday 14 March to Thursday 16 March
Tuesday 3 October to Thursday 5 October
Inspectors
Tuesday 9 May to Thursday 11 May
Tuesday 7 November to Thursday 9 November
If you’re planning on taking the early NPPF exams next year, for either Sergeants or Inspectors, now is a great time to start your study!
